Billy No Mates return with a ‘C’monletmeseeyoupogo’(deliberately written without spaces, it’s supposed to be cool!!). Opening track ‘O5 8’ opens with a high pitched wailing guitar sound that takes the listener into a fast, supersonic paced flurry of guitar notes before the vocals kick in. Once the vocals are in full effect- this song just keeps kicking out powerful lightning quick sharp punchy beats to keep you mesmerised with the song.
‘Pass it on’ is another ultra fast paced song- with even more melody than the album opener. After half way through this track, I was beginning to get bored of just hearing fast, punk rock- there’s no denying that they can play that type well- but I like some texture to my music- thankfully towards the end of ‘Pass It On’ the pace slows down and allows the intricate guitar notes to be heard- this might not sound much but it broke the repetitiveness enough to make it enjoyable to listen to again.
From this point on- all of the songs had a counterpoint, which involved an intricate guitar part. This gives you just enough time to recover from the constant headbanging that you will end up doing whilst listening to this album.
Overall, this is a good album, there were a couple of times where it just felt slightly repetitive though- and I’m sure that’s great if you are the type of person who can eat the same food for breakfast, dinner, and tea every day for 365 days per year, however I’m not one of those people.
So the question is would I personally buy this album? Yes I would! It is worthy of being purchased- it perhaps just wouldn’t be played as often as some of my other punk rock albums though. |
