Atomic Kitten - Right Now

Reviewed by Luke Seagrave

After the success of Atomic Kittens recent singles 'Whole Again' and 'Eternal Flame', they have decided to re-issue the album 'Right Now'.

When I first received this album, my first assumption before listening to it was that this would be another album that is just manufactured rubbish, performed by manufactured bimbos. Just one look at the track listings tells you that Atomic Kitten has trouble writing their own material.

As a hardcore fan of rock music, it would be very easy for me to be biased and just give this album a harsh review, however as hard as I try to think of something bad to say about the album, I just cannot think of anything. The fast tracks on the album are just awesome, and the slow ones aren't bad either, most of the best tracks have been released as singles, which include 'See Ya', 'Whole Again' and 'Eternal Flame'.

All of the tracks on this album are worthy of being released as a single, although the weakest track 'Bye Now seems to drag a bit. Apart from that 'Right Now' is a fantastic pop album, it has the effect of putting you in a really happy mood and after listening to the album I just didn't care that most of the songs are not written by Atomic Kitten.

Atomic Kitten seem to be one of those few pop bands that don't pretend to be serious musicians, unlike the Spice Girls. Atomic Kitten are good at doing what they do, which is releasing nice up-beat pop music. Their voices seem to be perfectly suited to pop music, it is just a pity that they never had the same amount of publicity as the Spice Girls or All Saints.

The downside to this album is that it is extremely manufactured, and very few of the songs are actually written by Atomic Kitten, but these points seem insignificant once you have listened to the album.
