Andrew W.K

Rock City
Nottingham
Reviewed by Luke Seagrave

Andrew W.K came to Rock City and demonstrated exactly why he is regarded, as one of the few guys that genuinely like's to party hard. The atmosphere amongst the crowd was one of a relaxed and friendly feeling, which is quite unusual for a Saturday night at rock city.

Many people were wondering why Rock City had chosen Andrew to headline an all nighter, as most people wouldn’t consider him a big enough artiste to sell enough tickets to warrant a headline slot- however, the tickets sold out much to the disbelieve of the doubters.

A.W.K`S stage show is packed full of energy, dazzling lights and of course his constant grin on his face. Here is a guy who doesn’t take it for granted, and relishes every single moment of being on stage. Without a doubt he thoroughly enjoys performing, and all he wants to do is party, and it seems that is all he wants the audience to do as well.

From the opening song ‘Violent Life’ to the dying notes of the very last song ‘I Get Wet’ Andrew was constantly jumping around and running from each side of the stage. Drenched in sweat, he demonstrated that you don’t have to have brilliant songs to put on a great live show- just a desire to have lots of fun.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable show, energetic, sweaty, friendly, just how every gig should be.
