Amplifier- The Consultancy

Reviewed by Luke Seagrave

Amplifier have had a lot of good press recently with regards to their live performance, some critics even suggested that these might be the next big thing, and it is easy to see why after seeing them live.

Unfortunately their debut single ‘The Consultancy’ doesn’t manage to capture the energy that makes them great to watch live. ‘The Consultancy’ starts of with a slow quiet build up of guitars, before vocalist Sel Balamir cuts in with his vocals. This song certainly doesn’t break any new boundaries, but in a strange way that is what makes it quite enjoyable to listen to, because you almost feel as if you’ve already heard it before and therefore already have a slight repertoire with the song.

Amplifier will probably attract new fans with ‘The Consultancy’ but after seeing them live it is easy to say that their best work is still yet to come.
