Ash (2004)

Rock City
Nottingham
Reviewed by Luke Seagrave

Ash came to rock city to demonstrate that they are still one of the best live bands around. Opening with a countdown just like nuclear reactor about to self destruct- dazzling the audience with orange/red lights and a strobe- Tim (vocalist) and crew arrived on stage to a thunderous reception.

Opening track ‘Meltdown’ caused the audience to go absolutely wild, then Ash kicked into their best known festival song ‘Girl From mars’ which was a shock to the system as most of us would have expected them to play it towards the end.

The setlist consisted of a good mixture of songs throughout their career as well as some new tracks from their recent album ‘Meltdown’ including Detonator’ and ‘Vampire Love’. Obviously all of the crowd favourites were included- ‘Lifeless ordinary’, 'Burn Baby Burn’, and ‘Kung Fu’.

Absolutely faultless, Ash once again have demonstrated that they can still rock. One of the best live bands around today!
