Vampires Rock

Royal Concert Hall
Nottingham
Reviewed by Luke Seagrave

Steve Steinman plays evil Baron Von Rockula in this all new gothic-rock play. Set in New York 2030. Vampire Baron Von Rockula is searching for a new bride.

Admittedly the story is a very old one- Vampire searches for bride, finds bride, etc. However Steve and the other cast members have done an excellent job in bringing a slightly new twist to the old theme- they have added some nice touches of comedy and of course added some great rock anthems into the story line.

Most of the classic rock anthems are included in this play such as ‘Live and Let Die’, ‘Bat Out of Hell’, ‘Kiler Queen’ and ‘Total Eclipse of The Heart’.

Steve and leading lady Zoe Sharman belt out the songs with faultless precision, which kept the audience wanting more. The only downside to this show was that it is quite a short play- if they added some extra songs to extend it slightly this show would be perfect.

If you like rock music then you will be totally amazed by the show. Definitely worth seeing next time Vampire Rocks comes to a town near you.
