Bjork- Medulla

Reviewed by Luke Seagrave

The wonderfully weird Bjork returns with her fifth studio album entitled 'Medulla'.

One can only assume that the name is taken from the part of the brain that controls automatic functions such as breathing and the heartbeat called the Medulla oblongata. To be honest I always have to take a deep breath when daring to play Bjork cds, I have never liked any of her previous material, however 'Medulla' is extremely easy to like, in fact it is on the verge of almost  being too addictive.

This album  is certainly cutting edge- full of the weird sounds that only Bjork can produce. Bjork has managed to record this album acappella. You would expect it to be a boring album with just her warbling voice to keep you entertained- howevr she has used incredible processed vocal layers which have been used to create almost faultless harmony or disonance.

It has to be said that this album will be one of those albums that you either love or hate- there is no in between with this album, thankfully I love this album!!!
