The highly anticipated album showcases the act’s inimitable talent for putting a distinct spin on the arrangement and mood of dance favourites – Barefoot have managed to pay homage to much loved tunes while truly making them their own. A double A-side single featuring favourites ‘It’s Like That’ and ‘Hideaway’ will be released on March 6th to support the album.
Already receiving substantial press, specialist radio and club support (via two limited edition 7”s and a CD sampler), the project has been building a head of steam for the past 6 months since Pete Tong first gave the Barefoot take on ‘White Lines’ his stamp of approval. Since then, he has selected the record as his Album Of The Month in his Mixmag column as well as featuring it on his Fastrax show for 3 Mobile. It was in fact a stripped down performance from Barefoot front woman Sam Obernik of the Tim Deluxe hit ‘It Just Won’t Do’ (on which she provided vocals) for Jo Whiley’s Live Lounge on Radio One that provided the initial inspiration for the Barefoot concept and sound. Teaming up with legendary producer Tommy D, the pair set about bridging the gap between the dance world and more conventional musicianship and song writing – the result is a collection of tracks which bubble with energy, invention and fun. The aim to reconnect people with classic songs which have inevitably become associated more with euphoric club moments than their lyrical and musical merits has been well and truly fulfilled.
